  DEVONSHIRE A Cartobibliography of Printed Maps to 1900 Welcome to my unofficial listing of the printed maps of Devon from 1575 to 1901. You will find a number of lists attempting to cover the following areas: The Printed Maps of Devon published before Queen Victoria The Victorian Maps of Devon published during the reign of Queen Victoria County Maps as Tourist Maps which covers maps in the two lists above which could also be seen, or were later used, as tourist maps The Tourist Maps of Devon containing a large selection of maps that could be considered tourist maps and published up to 1901 A Guide to Railway Development which can sometimes be used as an aid to dating older maps This listing is designed to be an easy reference guide. Each of the first three lists refers to one of the three boks which I have published, two of them in cooperation with Francis Bennett. Both The Printed Maps of Devon and The Victorian Maps of Devon have been updated and uploaded. A link is provided

  The Printed Maps of Devon Cartobibliography of printed maps of the county of Devon from 1575 to 1837 A short list. All the maps listed below can be seen at my website of the same name.  Printed Maps of Devon The maps are numbered in chronological sequence of first publication. The date given is that which is known or surmised. The chosen order of preference throughout the catalogue is surveyor, draughtsman, engraver, author, publisher. Names joined by a slash indicate that both/all were connected with the original issue. A slash is also used to identify separate works by the same draughtsman/engraver. Where maps are commonly associated with another mapmaker or printer the alternative name is added in brackets. Works not in italics were issued without title page. 80A and 95A were found after the first edition was published. 80B was originally 109 but has been found in an earlier state. 114 was found to have been published originally in 1839 and has been transferred to The Victoria

  The Victorian Maps of Devon   Cartobibliography of printed maps of the county of Devon  1837 - 1901. All maps are described and illustrated in The Victorian Maps of Devon .  The number (i.e.from 117A to 182 ) signifies the map as listed in the above work. The year is that of initial publication. The publisher's name (if known) follows. Finally the name of the work in which the map can be found. Maps 1 - 116 were issued before 1837 and are listed in the Printed Maps of Devon listing.
