  County Maps as Tourist Maps

County Maps in Guide Books

A number of county maps, i.e. maps which covered either the complete county on one map, maps on two sheets covering all of Devon, or maps covering Devon together with one other county were also included in guide books or were printed, published and/or sold as folding maps in covers. These have already been dealt with in The Printed Maps of Devon and in The Victorian Maps of Devon written by Kit Batten and Francis Bennett and published in 1996 and 2000 respectively.

This list refers the reader to the map entry in the two volumes. Maps 1-117 can be found in The Printed Maps of Devon and maps 117A-182 (i.e. post-1837) are included in The Victorian Maps of Devon.
